Corporate Social Responsibility

CloverFresh ensures that social, ethical and environmental principles are ingrained across our business. We have developed initiatives that support the elderly, children, homeless and those struggling with mental health. In addition to this we work hard to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage the recycling of our packing and the reduction of single use plastics.

We are committed to supporting charities, organisations and good causes that focus on helping those in need in the communities we work in and beyond. We work closely with those who provide support, shelter and accommodation, for children and adults as well as those who support mental health and wellbeing.

The collective engagements we have with our clients and partners add immense value to our services, and we are grateful to all involved for the input we receive. We actively seek to provide 100% support and charitable donations to organisations and causes in our local community. We hand deliver all produce knowing that our donations reach the desired source.

CloverFresh clients can be satisfied that working with us will ensure that all steps are taken to provide ongoing support to the charities and organisations we work with.

Our Initiatives

Helping the homeless

Since incorporation, CloverFresh have made donations to help homeless people through the provision of fresh fruit and veg produce to food banks & soup kitchens, with the additional collection of clothing and other items to give to those in need. CloverFresh collects fresh, nutritious food that is either surplus to requirements or cannot be sold on to our clients. We deliver this surplus food to charities, so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society.

An initiative installed with our delivery drivers is to Stop and Donate on route. The nature of our industry means we work through the night and very early hours when poverty and homelessness in the cities we work in is more evident than ever. Our Stop and Donate initiative provide healthy food options as well as warm clothing that has been donated from friends, family and CloverFresh clients alike.

Fit and Fed – Supporting Children

CloverFresh support local Fit and Fed schemes that encourage young people to keep fit and eat healthily during the holidays.

These initiatives are always a great success and the children who attend always enjoy taking part in sports, keeping fit, meeting new friends and receiving a good meal at the same time. CloverFresh are happy to support this initiative by donating fresh fruit to local organisations who run these schemes.

Giving back to the elderly

Care for those who helped care for us first – a motto we like to promote at CloverFresh. Through the donations of surplus fruit stocks to local nursing homes, CloverFresh aim to give back to those who were there for us at the start. Grandparents and the elderly don’t feature in our lives for long enough and when it comes to the point where they require supportive care, we like to give back. Providing healthy food donations to these organisations helps alleviate additional costs associated with food and provides an additional boost of nutrients and vitamins that help to fight off illness and improve mental stability.

Mental health

We are huge advocates of supporting mental health awareness and work closely with our clients to highlight the importance of tackling mental health issues and wellbeing in the workplace. Too often there is a stigma that mental health is not a serious issue and it doesn’t get spoken about enough. We help support and educate our clients that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce and that a healthy mind helps to improve the mental wellbeing of staff. There are many ways in which a company can tackle mental health in the workplace, and the provision of fresh fruit and highlighting the benefits helps businesses to actively improve the mental health of their workforce and tackle the causes of mental ill-health.

CloverFresh are very active during:
World Health Day (April 7)
Mental Health Month (May)
National Suicide Prevention Week (Sept. 9-15)
Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct. 7-13)

Recycling and carbon footprint

As part of our commitment towards climate change we are working to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by reusing and recycling. CloverFresh have invested heavily in the production of tougher grade cardboard packaging which is made from more than 85% recycled cardboard that can be used again and again. We regularly collect and reuse our packaging from clients who are also keen to support this initiative and reduce the overall carbon footprint associated to CloverFresh services

All packaging that is consumed by CloverFresh when purchasing stock from the wholesale markets are dismantled and transferred to a recycling plant to ensure that these items can we reused again in production for more packaging.

As part of the CloverFresh offering we promote the removal of single use plastics through our ‘Essential’ and ‘Go Bananas’ options. These options do not include the protective packaging required for grapes and berries which can be found in other options. Clients who are conscious of the impact of single use plastics are very supportive of this CloverFresh initiative.

Planning for the future

At the forefront of our mind we aim to continually reduce and improve our carbon footprint and enhance our responsibility to protect our environment.

We are aiming to remove all single use plastics for our punnet fruit such as grapes and berries with the installation of biodegradable packaging that can safely house the produce without being damaged. We currently run a fleet of vans that are compliant with up to date Euro 6 ULEZ regulations for clean emissions and in the future aim to replace these with electric vehicles to further reduce our carbon footprint.
